Most of us make New Year’s resolutions. As you are likely to know, the statistics indicate the majority of us (70-75% ) do not follow through. I am certainly guilty.

This year, I am challenging myself and the Lead One Community to make a new one. Let’s be intentional this year on growing personally. Let’s put a plan in place to improve in certain areas of our leadership. What new knowledge should be acquired? What skills need to be improved? What habits need to be formed or, in some cases, broken?

We are in charge and control of our growth. Actually, as leaders, it is our responsibility.

Let’s remember this—Learners are not always leaders—But great leaders are ALWAYS LEARNERS. Great leaders are on a path of lifelong learning. Lincoln was quoted as saying what he thought the leading characteristic of a leader is. He said it is just one word—EXAMPLE I have come to believe that to be true. People follow what they see, not just hear. This year, let them see your resolve to improve and get better. It just may be contagious.

So the question is, how would you have changed next year at this time? In what leadership competencies have you improved? Some growth opportunities could be in the following competencies: Communication, Listening, Decision-making, Problem-solving, Coaching, and Team building, to name a few. Today, we have many resources to guide us; tap into them and resolve 2025 as YOUR YEAR of personal growth.
