A good question to ask ourselves from time to time is: Am I truly an authentic leader? Do others see me under the filter of authenticity?
I am learning authenticity begins with living out our values. What we truly care about, (not just talk about) and live by that code daily is the beginning of being an authentic leader.
I believe our people deserve a leader who is true to what matters most.
In addition, pursuing our purpose is another demonstration of being an authentic leader.
Most of us have mission statements and purpose statements and in fact, they are likely in writing and prominently displayed.
A reminder for us all is to live out our values. In the end, it’s my belief, that living them is more important than seeing them in writing in order to achieve true authentic leadership.
Attraction power is priceless. We must be attractive to attract the best. People join people. Why should someone join your organization? That is a critical question. All leaders must have an answer.
What is it about you and your organization that is attractive? What is it about the organization, the people and the culture that stands out and is like a magnet?
To attract the best, we must be attractive. Some things to consider are:
- Your Person Value Statement (can you communicate it with passion, authenticity)
- Your Organizations Value Statement (the differentiation will attract)
